2nd Story Deck Restoration & Waterproofing Upgrade
The homeowner approached our team at Smith & Sons Franklin seeking a solution for their property. The deck, situated on the second story above the living area, had a failed waterproofing membrane, leading to significant leaks into the space below. These leaks caused considerable internal damage, which the client needed to be addressed urgently. Additionally, they wanted to restore the deck and requested a new waterproofing membrane to be installed.
For the deck, we stripped it back to its framing and completed the necessary remedial work. During this process, the home was enclosed in scaffolding and wrapped to protect it from the elements. We then installed a new waterproofing membrane, followed by concrete pavers set on elevated pads to create a functional outdoor space. The existing balustrade wall was extended to 1.1 metres to meet fall-from-height regulations. Both sides of the walls were clad with weatherboards and given a fresh coat of white paint for a modern look. Inside, all remedial work in the lounge area was completed, including relining with gib, plastering, and painting.
