Smith and Sons (Trentham, Upper Hutt) recently completed a major renovation for us. This consisted of recladding an existing extension; removing asbestos and insulating, at the same time refitting and replacing numerous windows. The exterior was finished in board and batten. A rustic porch was added over an existing french door for weather protection. A skylight was added to a south facing room and a wardrobe was retro-fitted. In the open plan lounge – dining - kitchen all architraves were refitted to 1920’s style to unify the whole room. A smart second-hand kitchen was installed and Trevor retro-fitted two rustic cabinets to improve their functionality.
A new roof was added to two thirds of the house as well as the cabin and the cabin was fitted with a new door and window. Corners were added to the cabin to ensure weatherproofness and a new porch and step brought it into line with the house. All the work was discussed as the work progressed as to what would work best and completed with attention to detail. The builders did not leave until the last item on the final check-off list had been ticked off. Also attended to was some rotten boards to complement the main weatherproofing work that was done i.e the roof and flashings and recladding. The work was completed in a timely and punctual fashion with excellent communication all round.
The price was very reasonable for the work done, the quote was specific and well worked out and there was a quality contract and guarantee in place. Payment was per period estimated and work completed. I am more than happy to recommend Smith and Sons as a first class renovation builder. I could not be happier with the result and have already commissioned Smith and Sons for further work as well as recommending them to friends and family.
