Arrowtown Home Renovation
An extensive home makeover project involving both interior and exterior renovations, to make the most of living space and views, in beautiful Arrowtown.
The renovation for Smith & Sons Queenstown's clients, Barry and Jane was very personal as the home was originally built and lived in by Jane’s parents. They wanted to modernise the home whilst still keeping the original quirk and details in the home. The Queenstown team redesigned the home to maximise the views with some stunning windows and open plan living space.
They removed the original dividing wall from the living room, closed in an alcove to create a larger kitchen with bar leaner as socialising is a big part of Barry and Jane's lives, as well as enclosing the undercover outdoor area to create a beautifully open space for them to relax and enjoy. This required some rather intensive steel works and structural changes to the existing roof structure.
Due to this large renovation and the enclosure of two areas, a reclad was required. The team also plastered the entire lounge and kitchen area. The owners also wanted the bathroom, separate toilet and the ensuite to all have an upgrade to future proof their home with modern comforts. In the master bedroom the team built a walk in robe to ensure there was enough storage space. The whole house received a full new paint, inside and out, new insulation in the areas that could be accessed, radiators throughout for warmth, and new double glazing to the new windows as well as retrofit to the existing.
The goal for Barry and Jane was to make the space as comfortable as possible to beat off the cold winters of Arrowtown and maximise the space for friends and family to enjoy, especially with their beautiful views and magnificent outdoor areas to enjoy in summer. Whilst there were a few timeframe delays from material supply, there weren’t any obstacles with the renovation and Queenstown office have created a space their clients are extremely happy with.
